Emirates President Demands Compensation from Boeing for Delayed 777x Jet Development

In a bold move, Emirates President Tim Clark has called on Boeing to compensate the airline for delays in the development of the US planemaker’s latest 777 jet, which the carrier has purchased. The airline is eagerly awaiting the new version, known as the 777x, but in the meantime, it is refurbishing many of its existing 777 aircraft. Clark insists that Boeing should foot the bill for these refurbishments.

Speaking to reporters in Dubai, Clark expressed frustration with Boeing’s inability to provide a clear timeline for the delivery of the 777x jet. Despite Boeing’s initial projections, the airline remains uncertain about when it can expect to receive the new aircraft.

Boeing had previously announced that deliveries of the 777x would commence in 2025, a significant delay from the original schedule. The uncertainty surrounding the delivery timeline has put Emirates in a difficult position, prompting Clark to demand compensation from the aircraft manufacturer.
