Algeria Urged to Increase Gas Supply Amid Global Conflicts
In a special World Economic Forum meeting in Riyadh, Algeria’s Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, revealed that European partners are calling on the country to boost its gas supply due to the impact of regional and global conflicts on the industry.
Complex Network of Cooperation
Attaf highlighted that Algeria has established a intricate network of cooperation with its regional partners, emphasizing the country’s role as a Mediterranean gas-producing nation. European partners are increasingly demanding additional quantities of gas from Algeria.
Global Conflicts Affecting Energy Market
Discussing the evolving global environment over the past few years, Attaf noted that conflicts have significantly impacted the energy market. He stressed the need for more effective intervention from the United Nations and its Security Council.
Impacts of Conflicts on the Region
Attaf pointed out that conflicts in Ukraine, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and the situation in the Sahel region are all affecting the Euro-Mediterranean area. He emphasized that Algeria’s sophisticated energy cooperation does not come at the expense of its commitment to addressing environmental issues.
