Ithra Unveils 15 New Film Projects at Saudi Film Festival

The King Abdulaziz World Cultural Center, known as Ithra, made a big announcement this week at the 10th Saudi Film Festival. They revealed 15 new film projects that were selected as part of the Saudi film funding program.

Nurturing Saudi Filmmakers

Out of 170 submissions, four feature films and 11 short films were chosen to receive funding. These emerging Saudi filmmakers are eager to see their ideas come to life on the big screen and share their stories with audiences worldwide.

Supporting the Growing Film Industry

The IFP, established six years ago, has been a crucial player in supporting Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning film industry. By providing funding and opportunities for local talent, they aim to showcase Saudi stories on a global stage and promote diverse voices in cinema.

Empowering New Talent

In addition to funding projects, IFP offers workshops and seminars to help filmmakers hone their skills and advance standards of excellence in the industry. Through these initiatives, they hope to empower new talent and boost the region’s filmmaking capabilities.

International Recognition

Since its inception, IFP has funded 20 titles and produced four films that have garnered acclaim at 95 film festivals worldwide, winning a total of 34 awards. One such success story is “Hajjan,” which recently took home three awards at the Gulf Film Festival.
