Riyadh to Host International Festival of Traditional Games
Get ready for a week filled with cultural exchange and traditional fun as the Heritage Commission announces the International Festival of Traditional Games in Riyadh from Dec. 19 to 25, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Monday.
From showcasing the value of traditional games to introducing the diverse identities of participating countries, this event is set to be a celebration of heritage and entertainment.
Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in traditional pastimes, attend workshops on toymaking and home decoration inspired by these games, and explore a crafts area featuring products by artisans from Saudi Arabia and beyond.
One of the highlights of the festival is the Year of the Camel pavilion, providing insights into the significance of camels in Saudi Arabia’s culture.
Not stopping there, the Ministry of Culture in Saudi Arabia has finalized the selection process for its camel studies grant, aiming to support researchers exploring the cultural, social, and economic aspects of these animals.
This grant is a step towards promoting camels as a cultural symbol, preserving the nation’s heritage, highlighting intangible traditions, strengthening national identity, and showcasing Saudi Arabia’s rich culture on a global scale, according to the SPA.
