Her company, Studio Production Training, showcased its Saudi-centric model at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival in France, marking its third appearance at the prestigious event.

Building Infrastructure and Connecting Talent

After completing her master’s degree at Loyola Marymount University in the US, Al-Naim returned to Saudi Arabia with a mission to create the infrastructure needed for local and international filmmakers in the Kingdom. Studio Production Training, launched in 2021, focuses on connecting filmmakers with qualified below-the-line (BTL) talent, including cinematographers, sound technicians, editors, and specialists in makeup, hair, and wardrobes.

At SPT’s headquarters in Riyadh, Al-Naim’s custom program offers training, mentoring, production resources, and industry networks. The goal is to cultivate a robust infrastructure of BTL talent in Saudi Arabia and provide opportunities for aspiring filmmakers.

Empowering the Next Generation of Filmmakers

Al-Naim expressed her commitment to inspiring and attracting the new generation to join the filmmaking field through partnerships and initiatives. The training programs curated by SPT aim to celebrate the voices of professionals in the industry and bridge the gap between young talents and experienced filmmakers.

Al-Naim emphasized the importance of utilizing skills from various industries in filmmaking, encouraging professionals from different backgrounds to explore opportunities in the field. The short courses offered by SPT in Riyadh focus on knowledge, mindset, and safety, providing a high-caliber training experience for participants.

Recognition and Support for Saudi Filmmakers

As the Saudi Film Festival returned to the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Dhahran, Al-Naim’s company awarded prizes to nominated filmmakers from a fund of SR100,000. The recognition received by filmmakers like Amr Al-Ammari for his work in cinematography highlights the support provided by initiatives like the Cultural Fund and SPT.

Looking Towards a Bright Future

Despite challenges and obstacles, Al-Naim remains hopeful about the future of the filmmaking industry in Saudi Arabia. With opportunities expanding for aspiring filmmakers and collaborations with organizations like Netflix and the US Embassy, the sector is poised to continue growing and showcasing Saudi stories to the world.

Al-Naim’s dedication to supporting filmmakers and building a thriving industry reflects her passion for storytelling and empowering creatives in the region.
