Muslim World League to Host Conference on Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects in Makkah
In an effort to promote unity and understanding among various Islamic sects, the Muslim World League is set to hold a conference titled “Building Bridges Between Islamic Sects” in Makkah. The event, scheduled for Sunday, will be under the patronage of King Salman, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.
The conference will see the participation of prominent Islamic figures, including muftis and senior scholars representing different Islamic sects. The primary objective is to foster collaboration and cooperation among these sects to work towards common goals, particularly on issues that require a unified legitimate opinion.
Moreover, the event aims to combat sectarian extremism by challenging divisive rhetoric, slogans, and practices that fuel conflict and sectarian clashes. Such actions are seen as detrimental to the values of Islamic brotherhood.
Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, expressed his gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their support and sponsorship of the conference. He extended his thanks on behalf of the league’s councils, bodies, and academies.
