Saudi Embassy in Ottawa Hosts Ramadan Iftar Banquet for Canadian Parliament Members and Ambassadors
The Saudi Embassy in Ottawa rolled out the red carpet for a grand Ramadan iftar banquet, welcoming members of Canada’s parliament, ambassadors from Islamic and Arab nations, and heads of Islamic organizations in the country.
Saudi ambassador to Canada, Amal Yahya Al-Moallimi, set the tone for the evening as she greeted guests on Tuesday. She emphasized the somber mood of this year’s Muslim holy month, highlighting the ongoing suffering of the people of Palestine. Al-Moallimi reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Amid over five months of conflict between Israel and Hamas in the besieged Gaza Strip since the Oct. 7 attacks, the Palestinian health ministry recorded a devastating toll of over 30,000 Palestinian casualties, including approximately 13,000 children and 8,800 women.
Grateful attendees at the banquet expressed their appreciation to the Saudi government for its extensive services to Islam and Muslims globally. They extended their well wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the Kingdom.
