Saudi Arabia and UK Sign Diplomatic Training Agreement

In a historic move, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has signed a groundbreaking diplomatic training agreement with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

The agreement, signed by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji and Lord Tariq Ahmad, the British minister of state for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, Commonwealth and the UN at the FCDO, marks a new era of cooperation between the two nations.

According to a statement released by the Saudi ministry, the agreement involves a comprehensive cooperation program between the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies and the FCDO of the UK and Northern Ireland.

During a remote meeting held via video call, both parties emphasized the importance of establishing and strengthening cooperation in the fields of information, research activities, and training programs.

Discussing pressing global issues, the parties addressed the conflicts in Gaza and Sudan, as well as ongoing Saudi-UK cooperation in the realm of development.

Lord Tariq Ahmad’s Statement

Lord Tariq Ahmad expressed his excitement about the agreement, stating, “Delighted to sign a diplomats’ training agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji.”

Taking to social media platform X, Ahmad further elaborated, “We also discussed the need for an immediate stop in fighting in Gaza, with irreversible steps to a two-state solution, conflict resolution in Sudan, as well as development cooperation.”
