Saudi Border Guards Thwart Multiple Attempts to Smuggle Qat into the Kingdom
In a series of successful operations, Saudi border guards in the Jazan and Asir regions have prevented several attempts to smuggle qat into the Kingdom, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The authorities in Jazan’s governorate of Al-Daer managed to foil an attempt to smuggle 165 kg of the narcotic plant, while in the neighboring district of Al-Arda, another 120 kg was intercepted.
Meanwhile, border guards in Asir’s Al-Rabwa area successfully thwarted the smuggling of 270 kg of qat.
Following the operations, preliminary legal procedures have been completed and the seized narcotics were handed over to the relevant authorities.
