Royal Ambassador Opens Al-Mangour Exhibition in Washington

In a dazzling display of Saudi culture and artistic heritage, Princess Reema bint Bandar, the US ambassador of Saudi Arabia, inaugurated the exhibition “Al-Mangour: Loved and Beloved” in Washington on Wednesday.

The captivating work of Saudi artist Ahmad Angawi was proudly showcased by the Saudi Embassy in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Held at the prestigious IFC headquarters, the exhibition mesmerized visitors with the intricate beauty of Al-Mangour, a traditional Hijazi craft known for its wooden latticework forming a mesh-like screen.

This ancient craft symbolizes the spiritual connection between individuals, portraying a tale of two halves coming together as one harmonious entity – the “loved and beloved.”

Attendees were treated to enchanting musical performances and delectable traditional cuisine, enhancing the immersive experience of the exhibition.

During her address, Princess Reema emphasized the significance of traditional arts in preserving cultural identity, upholding national heritage, and fostering connections with global communities.

She commended Angawi for his dedication to preserving and advancing the traditions of the Hijaz region, ensuring their legacy endures for generations to come.

Notable guests at the event included the IFC’s Director Makhtar Diop, esteemed officials, diplomats, and talented artists, all united in celebration of Saudi Arabia’s rich artistic legacy.
