Saudi Cultural Attache’s Office in the US Hosts Vibrant Ramadan Bazaar
In a bid to bring the spirit of Ramadan to life, the Saudi cultural attache’s office in the US organized a lively Ramadan Bazaar event at their headquarters in Washington, DC.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the event attracted a diverse crowd of Saudi clubs, families, students, and local community members looking to experience the traditions of the holy month.
The venue was transformed into a bustling market reminiscent of Ramadan markets in Saudi Arabia, with stalls selling traditional clothing, accessories, textiles, household goods, and mouthwatering foods.
Children were kept entertained with dedicated play areas, while Saudi student clubs showcased their creative projects inspired by Ramadan.
The air was filled with the aroma of traditional Saudi dishes as guests enjoyed a lavish iftar banquet complete with sweet treats and refreshing beverages.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Turki, head of the cultural and social affairs department, emphasized the importance of introducing the American community to Saudi Ramadan culture through events like this.
A Taste of Saudi Arabia in Washington
During the event, attendees had the opportunity to explore Saudi Arabia’s history at the King Abdullah Hall and learn about the Kingdom’s efforts in serving the Two Holy Mosques. Interactive cultural competitions added to the festive atmosphere, fostering cooperation and social cohesion among Saudi students.
Al-Turki praised the student clubs and volunteers for their pivotal role in organizing the event and highlighted the significance of easing feelings of estrangement and fostering integration, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan.
For many attendees, the bazaar served as a comforting reminder of home during the holy month, fostering a sense of love and cooperation.
Ph.D. researcher Mohammad Al-Ghanmi commended the attache’s efforts in creating an event that helps alleviate homesickness and brings the community together.
Attendee Youssef Al-Dail described the event as a joyous gathering reminiscent of an extended family reunion, highlighting the social and cultural significance of the initiative.
Student Siham Al-Abdullah marveled at the outstanding exhibits, competitions, and engaging activities, praising the unique and family-friendly environment created at the Ramadan Bazaar.
