Female Students Win Big at University Engineering Hackathon!

Female Students Dominate Engineering Hackathon 24

In a surprising turn of events, female students swept the top three prizes at Engineering Hackathon 24, held at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Dammam.

A total of 88 teams from the Eastern Province, consisting of both male and female students, participated in the event that kicked off on April 27, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

Dean Murad Al-Thubaiti of the university’s College of Engineering praised the impressive turnout from universities across the province. Out of the 16 finalist teams, female students stood out with their innovative projects spanning various specializations.

The first prize was claimed by Team Al-Farahidi for their groundbreaking Aram project aimed at preventing sleepwalking. The team members – Nada Al-Dosari, Sarah Al-Nami, Manal Al-Tamimi, and Nihal Al-Suhaibani – showcased exceptional talent and creativity.

Securing the second spot was Team Al-Khawarizmi, consisting of Fatima Shuwaiheen, Fatima Al-Baik, Hawraa Al-Suwaiket, Walaa Al-Sulays, and Amani Al-Saeedi. They designed a device to isolate cardiac signals from background noise, a feat that impressed the judges.

Team Al-Battani clinched the third place with their stress-relief system for surgeons. Hawraa Al-Wael, Dahhouk Al-Sabaa, and Zainab Bou Moza showcased their problem-solving skills and ingenuity.

Al-Thubaiti emphasized the significance of activities like hackathons in shaping students’ personalities and preparing them for the future. These events serve as a platform for students to showcase their talents and skills in a competitive environment.
