Flynas Saudi Airline to Purchase 160 New Airbus Planes

Saudi Low-Cost Airline flynas Signs Deal to Purchase 160 Airbus Aircraft

In a major move, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline flynas has inked a deal to acquire 160 Airbus aircraft, effectively doubling their existing order to a total of 280 planes.

Transforming the Aviation Sector

The agreement, considered a “landmark agreement,” was signed during the UK’s Farnborough International Airshow and includes an order of 30 wide-body A330neo aircraft along with 130 narrow-body A320 family aircraft.

Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the goal is to revolutionize the aviation sector and support flynas’ ambitious expansion plans under the slogan “We connect the world to the Kingdom.” This deal solidifies flynas’ position as one of the top four low-cost airlines globally.

Progressing Towards Aviation Goals

The deal also aligns with the Kingdom’s aviation objectives, including tripling annual passengers to 330 million, expanding connectivity to over 250 destinations, and increasing air freight capacity to 4.5 million tons of cargo per year by 2030.

Exciting New Chapter

Bander Al-Mohanna, CEO and managing director of flynas, expressed excitement over the agreement, stating that it reinforces their commitment to establishing flynas as a leading global low-cost carrier. This marks flynas’ first order for the wide-body A330neo with Airbus, with deliveries set to begin in 2027.

By doubling their order volume to 280 Airbus aircraft, flynas aims to sustain growth across their network of regional and international routes, catering to short, medium, and long-haul flights. This expansion will allow the carrier to explore new long-haul markets and offer diverse and innovative products to passengers.

Continued Collaboration

Airbus CEO of Commercial Aircraft Christian Scherer hailed the deal as a significant milestone for both A320neo and A330-900 aircraft. He emphasized the versatility and economics of both aircraft types, enabling flynas to expand into new markets while providing passengers with the latest cabin experience and comfort.

Strategic Expansion Plan

Earlier this month, flynas received its 53rd A320neo aircraft out of an order of 120 from Airbus as part of its strategic expansion plan. This next-generation model airplane touched down at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, further solidifying flynas’ position as the leading low-cost airline in the Middle East and one of the top four low-cost airlines globally, according to UK-based consultancy firm Skytrax.
