GCC Chief Emphasizes Importance of Islamic Ties at Islamic Summit

In a powerful statement at the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Jasem Albudaiwi, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, highlighted the significance of strengthening ties with other Islamic nations at all levels.

Albudaiwi stressed that GCC countries value their Islamic roots and are committed to establishing fruitful partnerships with all Islamic nations, recognizing the deep connection derived from culture, religion, and prophetic tradition.

Unity and Solidarity in Focus at OIC Conference

Delegations from 57 OIC member states gathered at the conference organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, focusing on the theme “Enhancing unity and solidarity through dialogue for sustainable development.”

Albudaiwi addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of collective action and solidarity to address the challenges faced globally, particularly in light of the ongoing crisis in Palestine and the Gaza Strip.

Commitment to Supporting Palestinian Rights

The GCC chief highlighted the outcomes of the Arab-Islamic joint summit in Riyadh, which led to the creation of a ministerial committee dedicated to aiding and protecting the Palestinian people in Gaza. He commended the committee’s efforts in stopping the aggression in the region.

Albudaiwi called for renewed commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, emphasizing the need for collective and responsible action.

Prioritizing Sustainable Development

Albudaiwi also stressed the importance of prioritizing sustainable development in the agendas of the GCC and the OIC. He urged collaboration in addressing environmental and economic challenges and enhancing cooperation in science, technology, and innovation to support sustainable development projects.
