Hajj 2024: Saudi Arabia’s Epic Preparations & Pilgrim Arrival

JEDDAH: Ivory Coast Imam Lauds Makkah Route Initiative

Sheikh Aima Diakite, president of the Superior Council of Imams of Mosques and Islamic Affairs in Ivory Coast, had nothing but praise for the Makkah Route Initiative and the services and facilities it provides.

Diakite emphasized how the program has made it easier and more comfortable for pilgrims to perform the Hajj rituals.

Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency, Diakite highlighted how the Makkah Route Initiative has streamlined procedures for Ivorian and other pilgrims, working diligently to overcome obstacles and difficulties to ensure a smoother Hajj experience.

The Makkah Route Initiative, launched by Saudi Arabia in 2019, specifically assists Hajj pilgrims from seven countries, including Ivory Coast, with their visa, customs, and passport requirements. Pilgrims arriving from Jordan and Palestine also expressed their gratitude for the well-organized Hajj process and the care provided by the Saudi government.

As preparations for this year’s pilgrimage continue, over 20,000 pilgrims from Iraq have already arrived through the Jadidat Arar border crossing in the Kingdom’s Northern Border Region. These pilgrims have been welcomed with security, health, and guidance services by a team of 194 volunteers.

Additionally, at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, a staggering 7,808,112 worshippers and visitors attended daily prayers last week, according to SPA reports.
