Indonesian Embassy Hosts Enchanting “The Magic of Angklung” Concert in Riyadh

In a mesmerizing display of Indonesian culture, the Embassy of Indonesia in Riyadh presented “The Magic of Angklung” concert at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter. The event showcased the Muhibah Angklung team from Bandung, Indonesia, drawing in over 600 spectators from a diverse range of countries.

The angklung, a traditional Indonesian musical instrument crafted from bamboo, was honored by UNESCO in 2010 as a masterpiece of humanity’s intangible heritage. The enchanting sounds resonated with the audience, creating a sense of unity and peace.

To commemorate Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day, the Muhibah Angklung team delivered a heartfelt performance, moving the audience with renditions of iconic songs like “We Are the World.” Deputy Indonesian ambassador Sugiri Suparwan expressed pride in sharing Indonesia’s cultural richness with the world.

Following their performance in Riyadh, the team plans to continue their cultural tour to Jeddah, spreading messages of peace and togetherness through music.

The event not only showcased the beauty of Indonesian culture but also offered traditional culinary delights to the audience, further enhancing the cultural experience.

Audience members were captivated by the performance, with Saudi residents Abdulaziz and Noura expressing their admiration. Abdulaziz even expressed a desire to visit Indonesia to explore more of its beauty.

Maulana M. Syuhada, the team leader of Muhibah Angklung, shared his pride in representing Indonesia and spreading the joy of angklung to the world. The team’s mission is to inspire and elevate Indonesia’s cultural presence on a global scale.
