“Jessica Alba’s ‘Trigger Warning’ fails to deliver on all fronts – a lackluster attempt at bringing a powerful message to the screen”

Unimpressive Jessica Alba film ‘Trigger Warning’ misses the mark entirely – a review

Netflix’s “Trigger Warning” Fails to Take Itself Seriously

LONDON: In an attempt to create a pseudo “John Wick” franchise, Netflix’s “Trigger Warning” falls short of the mark. The film follows special forces operator Parker (Jessica Alba) as she returns to her hometown after her father’s mysterious death. What ensues is a chaotic journey of violence and justice, with Parker wielding a knife in her own unique way.

Director Mouly Surya kicks off the film with a lackluster car chase that fails to impress, setting the tone for what’s to come. The script is filled with cliches, clunky dialog, and one-dimensional characters, leaving the audience questioning the coherence of the storyline.

Despite the film’s shortcomings, Jessica Alba delivers a committed performance, while Gabriel Basso adds a touch of charm as her sidekick. However, “Trigger Warning” ultimately relies on its charismatic lead to salvage a messy plot and bring it to a satisfying conclusion.

While some movies offer escapism, “Trigger Warning” is simply thrown together without cohesion or care. It’s a film that should come with a warning label for its lack of seriousness and haphazard execution.
