Saudi aid agency KSrelief participates in high-level humanitarian conference in Brussels
In a significant event, the Saudi aid agency KSrelief joined a two-day humanitarian conference in Brussels, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.
The third European Humanitarian Forum, co-organized by Belgium as part of its EU Council presidency, kicked off on Monday and concluded with pledges totaling approximately $8.4 billion for global crises in 2024.
Dr. Hana Omar, director of partnerships and international relations at KSrelief, led the agency’s delegation at the forum.
The conference focused on addressing the increasing humanitarian needs in crisis-affected countries globally, emphasizing cooperation with donors, international stakeholders, the EU, and its member states.
It also delved into exploring sustainable solutions to humanitarian challenges, starting with discussions on the situation in Gaza on the first day of sessions.
Representatives from EU member states, humanitarian organizations, and local actors in affected regions actively participated in proposing innovative and lasting solutions to modern humanitarian crises.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the European Commission stated, “Global humanitarian needs have reached unprecedented levels, with nearly 300 million people worldwide requiring assistance and protection in 2024 due to conflicts, climate emergencies, and other factors.”
Dr. Omar and Haifa bint Abdulrahman Al-Jedia, head of the Saudi mission to the EU and the European Atomic Energy Community, engaged in discussions to address challenges such as funding gaps, access limitations, and escalating humanitarian needs.
KSrelief’s presence at the forum showcased its commitment to enhancing international humanitarian efforts and finding effective solutions to urgent issues.
