Lebanese Actress Cynthia Khalifeh Ventures into Hollywood with Horror-Thriller “Borderline”

LOS ANGELES: In a bold move, Lebanese actress Cynthia Khalifeh joins forces with Lucien Laviscount from “Emily in Paris” and Laura Marano of “The Royal Treatment” for the spine-chilling horror-thriller “Borderline.”

Embracing a new chapter in her career, the former TV presenter is now eyeing future projects as she embarks on her Hollywood dream.

In an exclusive interview with Arab News, Khalifeh shared her journey, saying, “I’m one step closer to realizing my childhood dream of acting in international films. It’s all about taking baby steps and feeling a bit closer every day.”

Reflecting on her experiences, Khalifeh added, “It involved a lot of risks, a lot of adventures where nothing was guaranteed, but I had to take that leap of faith.”

Exploring the Terrifying World of “Borderline”

Shot in a specially constructed studio in Malta, “Borderline” delves into the darkest fears associated with the realm of dating apps.

Speaking about the film, Khalifeh explained, “It sheds light on the risks of online dating, where meeting a stranger can lead to unforeseen dangers.”

The actress elaborated on the plot, “The characters meet at a place that lies on the border between two countries, where no laws apply. It’s a zone where anything can happen, leading to a night of confinement and perilous encounters.”

Describing her character’s journey, Khalifeh said, “I found myself trapped in a place, trying to escape from a threatening individual, only to confront him in the end. It was a learning experience filled with intense action sequences.”

A New Side of Lucien Laviscount

Discussing her co-star Laviscount’s role, Khalifeh revealed, “Lucien portrays a character vastly different from the charming sweetheart he played in ‘Emily in Paris.’ Audiences will witness a side of him they have never seen before.”

From Actress to Co-Writer

Khalifeh’s creative contributions to the screenplay earned her the role of co-writer in the film, marking a significant milestone in her career. Opting for the horror genre to kickstart her global journey, she aims to dominate this year’s Halloween season.

Recounting how she became involved in the writing process, Khalifeh shared, “I started pitching ideas, and before I knew it, they invited me to join the writing team. It was an incredible opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.”
