Marubeni CEO Praises Saudi Arabia’s Decarbonization Plans

TOKYO: Atsushi Suzuki, the president and CEO of Marubeni Middle-East & Africa Power Limited, commends Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plans for a decarbonized future, calling it a crucial step for the Kingdom.

In an interview with Arab News Japan, Suzuki expressed his support for Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, emphasizing the importance of transitioning to sustainable energy sources. He highlighted a wind farm project that his company is currently working on as part of this initiative.

“As a Japanese company, we are proud to contribute our expertise to help Saudi Arabia achieve its goal of becoming an eco-friendly nation,” Suzuki stated. “This partnership between Japan and Saudi Arabia can pave the way for the Kingdom to emerge as a major exporter of new energy sources, such as green hydrogen, in addition to its traditional oil and gas exports.”

Marubeni has forged partnerships with several Saudi companies to expand its presence in the country’s power sector. Suzuki affirmed their commitment to delivering high-quality services to meet the expectations of the Saudi government and their clients.

The recent Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 Business Forum, which drew over 300 industry officials and business leaders from both nations, aimed to foster stronger ties and boost investment opportunities between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Participants from Saudi Arabia expressed interest in aligning with the needs of the Japanese market, focusing on areas such as investment, sustainability, circular economy practices, and soft power sectors like entertainment and gaming.
