Munerah Al-Rasheed Makes History as First Arab Woman to Lead World Customs Organization’s Regional Intelligence Liaison Offices
In a groundbreaking move, Munerah Al-Rasheed has been appointed to head the World Customs Organization’s Regional Intelligence Liaison Offices, becoming the first Arab woman to hold this prestigious position.
Her appointment came during the 31st Global Meeting of RILO at the organization’s headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, marking a significant moment in her career. Al-Rasheed is set to serve in this role for the next two years, with her term concluding in 2026.
With a wealth of experience spanning 18 years, Al-Rasheed has navigated through various roles over the past two decades, honing her skills along the way.
Notably, she served as the director of RILO Middle East for six years at the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, showcasing her expertise in the field. Prior to this, she excelled as the program manager at the Human Resources Development Fund, focusing on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and creatives in the Kingdom.
Her professional journey also includes stints in public relations at Volkswagen and Al-Manahil Holding in Riyadh, each lasting two years. Before that, she held positions such as regional manager at Credit Suisse and manager of admissions and registration at Al-Yamamah University for six years.
As a respected leader, Al-Rasheed has represented 11 local offices in the Middle East across various international platforms, amplifying her influence in the industry.
Al-Rasheed holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New Haven in the US and an executive master’s degree in business administration from the collaborative MBA program between Hochschule Furtwangen and Al-Yamamah University.
