Shihana Alazzaz: A Trailblazer in Saudi Law and Business
In a groundbreaking move, Shihana Alazzaz has been appointed as an adviser at the Royal Court, marking a historic moment for women in Saudi Arabia. This prestigious position comes as a result of a royal order issued by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Rising Through the Ranks
Not one to rest on her laurels, Alazzaz has also been named the chairwoman of the board of directors of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property. This latest appointment adds to her already impressive resume, which includes serving as the deputy secretary-general of the Council of Ministers, a role she held since July 2022.
Alazzaz made history as the first Saudi woman to hold the position of deputy secretary-general of the Council of Ministers, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of women in leadership roles.
A Trailblazer in Saudi Law
Alazzaz’s journey to success began when she became one of the first women licensed to practice law in Saudi Arabia. Her legal career saw her rise through the ranks, eventually becoming the general counsel at the Public Investment Fund.
Her academic background is just as impressive, having studied law at Durham University in the UK. She graduated with honors in 2008 and went on to serve as a Saudi representative in the US Middle East Partnership Initiative during her time in law school.

Alazzaz’s hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. In 2019, she was honored with the International Financial Law Review’s Women in Business Law award, solidifying her reputation as a powerhouse in the legal field.
Her contributions to the industry have also been recognized by Forbes, which named her one of the top 100 most powerful businesswomen in the Middle East in 2020.
