Saudi Students Shine in European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad

In a display of exceptional talent, two Saudi students stood out at the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad held in Georgia from April 11-17.

This prestigious international math competition attracts high school girls from across the globe who have a deep passion for the subject that goes beyond the standard curriculum. This year, 212 students from 54 countries showcased their skills.

Represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia secured two medals in the event.

Fatimah Hassan Buali from Al-Ahsa and Retaj Al-Saleh from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia earned a bronze medal and a certificate of appreciation, respectively.

This marks the Kingdom’s 12th participation in the Mathematical Olympiad, with Saudi students accumulating an impressive record of two gold, six silver, and 13 bronze medals, along with seven certificates of appreciation over the years.

Mawhiba’s Secretary-General, Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazzaa, emphasized that the students’ achievements underscore the successful collaboration between Saudi institutions and the commitment to nurturing young talents through education and training in accordance with global standards.

She commended the partnership between Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education, which is focused on enhancing Saudi human capital in alignment with the National Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.

Operating the Mawhiba Program for International Olympiads in close coordination with the Ministry of Education, Mawhiba provides advanced training and curriculum development to prepare Saudi teams for international competitions, including the Mathematical Olympiad.

The Saudi girls who participated in the Olympiad underwent rigorous training to enhance their scientific skills and were selected based on their performance in training sessions organized by Mawhiba.
