The star-studded cast of Johnny Depp’s latest directorial venture, “Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness,” graced the red carpet at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain, marking Depp’s second directorial feature.
Supported by Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Foundation through its Red Sea International Film Financing initiative, the film made a grand entrance at the prestigious festival.
A Night of Glamour and Elegance
The premiere was attended by Red Sea Film Foundation Managing Director Shivani Pandya, Saudi film producer Mohammed Al-Turki, and a star-studded ensemble including Riccardo Scamarcio, Antonia Desplat, Bruno Gouery, Ryan McParland, and Luisa Ranieri.
The period drama captivated the audience at San Sebastian, receiving a thunderous standing ovation and leaving a lasting impression at the festival, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
A Journey Through Artistic Chaos
“Modi” showcases Depp’s directorial prowess, offering a glimpse into the tumultuous life of bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani during a three-day whirlwind in war-time Paris in 1916. This marks Depp’s second foray into directing, following his debut film “The Brave” released 27 years ago.
During a press conference, Depp shared that it was Al Pacino who inspired him to take on the directorial role. Recalling Pacino’s advice, Depp said, “When Pacino speaks, you listen,” highlighting the profound influence the legendary actor had on his decision to helm the project.
The film promises to be a captivating journey through the chaotic yet artistically vibrant world of Modigliani, painting a vivid picture of a genius amidst the backdrop of wartime Paris.
