“Nicolas Cage’s latest horror-mystery film ‘Longlegs’ fails to impress in this scathing review”

Longlegs: A Disappointing Horror Film

If you were expecting something new and exciting from the horror film “Longlegs,” you’re in for a letdown. Set to hit Saudi cinemas on July 18, the movie takes place in 1990s Oregon, where a mysterious mist hangs over a snowy landscape. Despite the eerie setting, the film fails to deliver real terror.

Writer-director Osgood Perkins relies heavily on mood and atmosphere, with FBI agent Lee Harker (played by Maika Monroe) tracking down a serial killer portrayed by Nicolas Cage. Cage’s performance is obscured by heavy makeup, making it hard to connect with his character’s emotions.

The killer, known as Longlegs, leaves coded notes for Harker as she tries to capture him. He manipulates fathers into killing their families before taking their own lives, leaving a trail of destruction. However, the plot lacks coherence and believability.

Perkins prioritizes style over substance, a trait evident throughout his career. The film’s dialogue is awkward, and the storyline is riddled with inconsistencies. The only bright spot is Monroe’s performance, as she manages to shine in a poorly written role.
