Residential Building Permits Surge in Qatar
In a bustling real estate market, Qatar saw a significant increase in residential building permits in March, with a total of 257 licenses issued compared to 193 the previous month, according to official data.
Villas Dominate the Market
Breaking down the numbers, the Planning and Statistics Authority in Qatar revealed that villas were the top choice for new residential construction, making up 88 percent of all building permits. Apartments followed with an 11 percent share, while other residential buildings only accounted for 1 percent of approvals.
City Rankings
Among the municipalities, Al-Rayyan city took the lead with 210 building permits issued, representing 28 percent of the total approvals. Al-Doha municipality came in second with 179 permits, making up 24 percent of the total. Al-Wakrah and Al-Da’ayen followed closely behind.
Categories of Approvals
The data also revealed that new construction licenses for both residential and non-residential units made up 42 percent of the total approvals, with extension constructions at 53 percent and fencing permits at 5 percent. Industrial structures led the non-residential sector with workshops and factories receiving 18 approvals.
Changes in Approval Rates
Despite the overall increase in building permits, some municipalities experienced a decrease in approvals from the previous month. Al-Sheehaniya and Al-Doha saw the most significant declines, while Al-Rayyan had a slight decrease of 9 percent. Al-Shammal, Umm Slal, and Al-Da’ayen also saw reductions in approval rates.
