Peruvian Ambassador Unites Saudi Community for National Day Festivities

Peru Celebrates National Day in Riyadh

The Peruvian embassy in Riyadh opened its doors to Peruvians living in Saudi Arabia to commemorate the national day and independence month of July.

Ambassador Carlos Zapata expressed the significance of the occasion, stating, “Today is a special gathering for Peruvians as July marks the month of our independence.”

The event served as an opportunity for Peruvians in Saudi Arabia to come together and celebrate their national day, fostering a sense of community among them.

Peruvian National Day, observed on July 28 each year, commemorates Peru’s independence from Spain in 1824. Even thousands of miles away in Saudi Arabia, Peruvians celebrated with authentic food and festive traditions.

Ambassador Zapata was delighted to see a large turnout of Peruvians at the embassy, noting the growing number of Peruvians in Saudi Arabia, now exceeding 300 individuals.

Reflecting on his time in the Kingdom, Zapata highlighted the changes he has witnessed since his first mission in 2015, emphasizing the importance of experiencing and sharing such developments as a diplomat.

Looking ahead, the ambassador expressed his desire for increased cooperation in trade between Saudi Arabia and Peru, particularly in agricultural produce and shared expertise in various fields.

One of the guests at the celebration, Leyla Reynaga, shared her experience of living in Saudi Arabia for nearly 40 years, expressing her joy at witnessing the cultural exchange between Peruvians and Saudis.

Reynaga praised the hospitality and kindness of the Saudi people, emphasizing the beauty of the country and the warm welcome extended to the Peruvian community.
