Revamped Fish Landing Center in Hodeidah thanks to Saudi Aid Agency – See the Transformation Now!

Saudi Arabia and FAO Rehabilitate Fish Landing Center in Yemen

In a joint effort between Saudi Arabia’s King Salman for Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a fish landing center in Yemen’s Hodeidah has been revitalized, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The renovation was part of an emergency support program aimed at safeguarding the agriculture, livestock, and fishery-based livelihoods of vulnerable populations in Yemen. The project, funded by KSrelief, focuses on rehabilitating and activating key fish landing centers along Yemen’s coastal strip. Additionally, 1,000 ice boxes and 3,000 life jackets were provided to 3,000 fishermen in Al-Mahrah governorate.

This initiative not only supports fishermen but also assists farmers and herders in producing food for consumption and sale in local markets. Governor of Hodeidah, Al-Hassan Taher, expressed gratitude for KSrelief’s support, emphasizing that the fish landing center will revitalize the marine fishing sector and enhance the living standards and income of fishermen and their families.

Furthermore, the center will benefit those involved in fish marketing, selling, and exporting by offering cold storage facilities powered by solar energy to protect their catch from pollution or damage. Taher highlighted the center’s role in preserving the quality of fish and improving economic opportunities for the local community.
