Rita Ora Stuns in Saudi Couture at MTV Europe Music Awards
The 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards was hosted by British singer Rita Ora in Manchester, where she graced the red carpet in a show-stopping look by Saudi couturier Mohammed Ashi.
Ora’s peach gown from Ashi Studio’s Fall/Winter 2024 Couture line featured hair-like tassels that enveloped her on the red carpet, making a bold statement.
Ashi’s Fall/Winter 2024 Couture line, named “Sculpted Clouds,” was showcased at Paris Haute Couture Week in June, solidifying his place in the fashion world.
As the first couturier from the Gulf to join the Federation de la Haute Couture in Paris as a guest member in 2023, Ashi’s talent and creativity continue to shine on the global stage.
Taylor Swift Dominates MTV Europe Music Awards
The 30th edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester was a night dominated by female artists, with Taylor Swift leading the way by picking up four awards.
Swift took home trophies for best artist, best live, best US act, and best video for her collaboration with Post Malone in “Fortnight,” showcasing her continued success in the music industry.
Despite not being able to attend in person, Swift expressed her gratitude for the honors, calling it “unbelievable” in a pre-recorded message.
Recognition for Tyla and Sabrina Carpenter
Tyla and Sabrina Carpenter also received recognition at the awards show, with Tyla winning three awards, including best R&B, and Carpenter taking home the prize for best song.
Swift, with her record-breaking “Eras” tour, was nominated in seven categories and emerged victorious in the best artist category, competing against other talented musicians like Beyonce, Billie Eilish, and Post Malone.
Lack of Recognition for Latino Artists
Despite their global hits, Latino artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G were left out of the top categories at the MTV Europe Music Awards, highlighting a disparity in representation.
Shakira, another Latin artist, was nominated in the best Latin field, underscoring the need for more inclusivity in music award shows.
