Rotana Hotels to Double Workforce in Saudi Arabia, Expanding to 15 Outlets

In an exclusive interview with Arab News at the Future Hospitality Summit in Riyadh, Rotana Hotels CEO, Philip Barnes, revealed plans to increase the company’s workforce in Saudi Arabia to 5,000 employees. Currently, the Kingdom employs around 2,000 staff across its portfolio.

Expanding Presence Beyond Holy Cities

Barnes emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its presence beyond the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah, with eight to nine hotels under development set to open in the next two to three years.

Insight into Tourism Landscape

As a UAE-based company, Rotana has a unique insight into the tourism landscape of Saudi Arabia. Barnes stated, “We see ourselves as being able to come into the Kingdom in a way that others can’t because we are recognized as that brand that is from the region.”

Exploring New Territories

Rotana is not only focusing on Saudi Arabia but also exploring opportunities in Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, Eastern Europe, and Turkiye. Barnes mentioned plans to open two hotels in London and expand further across the UK.
