Saudi Delegation Attends High-Level European Humanitarian Forum in Brussels
BRUSSLES: Last week, a delegation from Saudi aid agency KSrelief, led by Hana Omar, director of the center’s department of partnerships and international relations, made a significant impact at a meeting in Brussels addressing the Gaza crisis.
The meeting, chaired by the European Commission and France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, was part of the High-Level European Humanitarian Forum’s third session held on March 18 and 19.
Omar took the floor to emphasize the Kingdom’s relentless efforts to alleviate the repercussions of the ongoing violence in Gaza. She expressed gratitude to Belgium for hosting the meeting amidst what she described as “escalating hostilities and blatant violations of international humanitarian law” in Gaza. Additionally, she extended appreciation to humanitarian workers in Gaza and offered condolences to the families of those who had lost their lives during recent events.
Since November, the Saudi leadership has spearheaded a campaign through the “Sahim” relief platform for the Palestinian people in Gaza, garnering donations exceeding $180 million.
The forum centered on the pressing humanitarian needs in nations affected by crises globally. Participants underscored the significance of enhancing cooperation among impacted countries, donors, international stakeholders, and the European Union to devise sustainable and effective solutions to humanitarian challenges, with a specific focus on Gaza.
