KSrelief Supervisor Meets with UN Coordinator for Sudan

In a recent meeting between Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, supervisor general of the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, and Clementine Nkweta-Salami, the UN resident and humanitarian coordinator for Sudan, discussions were held on the sidelines of the International Conference for Sudan and Neighboring Countries in Paris, organized by France and the EU.

The focus of the meeting was on matters of mutual interest related to the relief and humanitarian situation in Sudan, as well as key topics on the conference’s agenda.

Highlighting the humanitarian efforts undertaken by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief in Sudan, Al-Rabeeah mentioned that 13 aircraft carrying supplies had been sent to the country, with 43 humanitarian projects worth over $60 million implemented in partnership with international, UN, and local organizations. Additionally, 20 medical volunteer teams were dispatched to Sudan.

Nkweta-Salami praised the Kingdom’s efforts in aiding the Sudanese people in need and expressed hope for continued bilateral cooperation to support humanitarian initiatives in Sudan.

On a related note, KSrelief signed two agreements worth $1.4 million with the World Food Programme to treat and prevent malnutrition in Sudan and South Sudan. The aim is to prevent nutritional deficiencies among children, pregnant, and nursing women by providing food aid and nutritional supplements, benefiting over 35,000 individuals affected by conflict, economic shocks, and climate events.
