Saudi Delegation Showcases Commitment to Space Cooperation at UN Committee Meeting

In a display of dedication to international cooperation in outer space activities, a Saudi delegation wrapped up its participation in the 67th session of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space in Vienna, Austria. The event, which took place from June 19 to 28, brought together global leaders to discuss current and future endeavors in space exploration.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the delegation highlighted the Kingdom’s progress in developing the space sector and emphasized initiatives aimed at enhancing space sustainability, such as the successful Space Debris Conference held earlier this year.

The Saudi delegation underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing space activities and steering the global space industry to new heights.

During the conference, the Saudi delegation hosted a meeting titled “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Towards Space: Stimulating the Space Sector,” which drew more than 80 space leaders and experts. The event aimed to explore opportunities for growth and innovation in the space industry.

Dr. Abdullah bin Khaled Toula, the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, inaugurated the meeting, stressing the vital role of international cooperation in sustaining space activities worldwide.

The UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, established in 1959, oversees the exploration and utilization of space for the betterment of humanity. It reviews international cooperation in space activities, promotes space research programs, and addresses legal issues related to outer space exploration.
