Saudi Arabia Leading the Way in Sustainable Aviation Practices

During the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh, Salvatore Sciacchitano, president of the International Civil Aviation Organization Council, praised Saudi Arabia for its exemplary sustainable practices in the aviation sector.

Sciacchitano highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainability, calling it a “model” for other countries to follow. He specifically mentioned Saudi Arabia’s projects for low-carbon emission fuels, which utilize green energy to reduce emissions from fossil fuels.

The ICAO official emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards and practices, noting that Saudi Arabia’s aviation growth aligns with global standards. He commended the Kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation for its support to the Regional Safety Oversight Organization, emphasizing the role of collaboration at the regional level.

Sciacchitano expressed confidence in Saudi Arabia’s capabilities to achieve its goals independently but assured that ICAO is there to provide support and expertise if needed.

Looking towards the future, Sciacchitano predicted a significant increase in global air traffic, with the number of passengers expected to reach 11.5 billion by 2050. He stressed the importance of technological advancements to accommodate this growth, ensuring that the world can handle more airplanes in the air and on the ground.
