Saudi Arabia Strongly Condemns Israeli Plan to Double Population in Golan Heights
Saudi Arabia has come out with strong words against the Israeli government’s recent approval of a plan to double the population in the occupied and annexed Golan Heights.
Describing the move as a unanimous decision by the Israeli government, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced an $11 million plan for the demographic development of the Golan. The decision was justified by citing the ongoing war and new front in Syria, along with the desire to increase the population in the region.
In response to this development, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on the international community to denounce these Israeli violations. The ministry emphasized the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement further highlighted that the Golan Heights is recognized as occupied Syrian Arab land and criticized Israel for impeding Syria’s efforts to regain security and stability in the region.
Israel has held control over most of the Golan Heights since 1967 and formally annexed the area in 1981, a move that has been acknowledged only by the United States.
