Saudi Arabia Prepares to Host 2025 Asian Physics Olympiad

Get ready, because Saudi Arabia is gearing up to host the 2025 round of the Asian Physics Olympiad, one of the biggest scientific events in Asia. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom has officially received the symbolic flag for the event, passed on by Malaysia, the host of the 2024 APhO in Kampar.

During the 2024 competition, Saudi Arabia’s team of eight students snagged an impressive five awards, competing against 208 students from 27 different countries. The bar has been set high for the 2025 event, which will see participation from 27 countries in May.

The prestigious event is being organized by the Mawhiba foundation and the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Dr. Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazza, the secretary-general of Mawhiba, emphasized the significance of hosting such an international competition, highlighting the Kingdom’s strong position in the scientific and educational realms.

Al-Hazza expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting science and knowledge, as well as encouraging students to engage in global events like the Asian Physics Olympiad. This hosting opportunity not only showcases the Kingdom’s dedication to education but also fosters international cooperation in the field of science.

As Saudi Arabia gears up for the International Chemistry Olympiad next month, organized by Mawhiba, the Ministry of Education, and King Saud University, the Kingdom continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing education and scientific excellence on a global scale.
