Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Aid Center Donates $40 Million to UNRWA Emergency Appeal in Gaza
In a significant move to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center announced a generous $40 million contribution. This donation comes at a critical time when the people of Gaza are facing the threat of famine.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his gratitude for the donation, emphasizing its importance in ensuring UNRWA’s ability to continue providing essential services in Gaza. The agency plays a vital role in the humanitarian response in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The donation will specifically provide food for over 250,000 individuals and tents for 20,000 families in Gaza, according to UNRWA. A UN spokesperson highlighted the significance of this contribution in safeguarding the well-being of the people in Gaza.
Guterres also urged Israel to guarantee unrestricted access to humanitarian supplies across all parts of Gaza, emphasizing the need for humanitarian support to reach those in need without obstacles.
