The Kingdom’s Communications, Space, and Technology Commission have unveiled the impact of these projects on environmental, economic, and social sustainability, showcasing their commitment to a greener future.

Technological Advancements Driving Sustainability

The latest Digital and Space Sustainability report by the commission featured several key projects, including Aqua-Fi’s bi-directional lasers. Led by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, this project enables high-speed communication between underwater devices, revolutionizing ocean monitoring related to aquaculture, energy, and security.

Another notable project involves the use of satellite imagery and geospatial technologies to compile agricultural data, saving billions of cubic meters of groundwater and enhancing agricultural activities across Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha emphasized the Kingdom’s dedication to harnessing technology for the greater good. He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s leadership in sustainability efforts and emphasized the importance of green technologies in shaping a sustainable future for all.

Sustainability is a key pillar of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, with a commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. The Kingdom is integrating environmental, social, and governance principles into its economic frameworks to combat climate change.

The report also highlighted projects such as Optimal PV’s automation of solar rooftop system design and NanoPalm’s use of machine learning in pharmaceutical research. These innovations are not only improving efficiency and profitability but also driving significant advancements in their respective industries.

Additionally, King Faisal Hospital and Research Center’s use of 3D printing technology and SDM’s AI technology for diagnosing chronic diseases were recognized for their impact on patient care and public health.
