Saudi Authorities Crack Down on Drug Smuggling Across the Kingdom

In a series of operations carried out across Saudi Arabia, authorities have made multiple arrests and seized significant quantities of drugs, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Border patrols in Dhahran Al-Janub, Asir, intercepted nine Ethiopian nationals attempting to smuggle 113 kg of narcotics. Meanwhile, in Aridah, Jazan, patrols foiled an attempt to smuggle 225 kg of qat.

The General Directorate of Narcotics Control apprehended a Saudi national for trafficking methamphetamine in the Northern Borders region, with another individual also arrested in the Eastern Province for the same offense.

A citizen was caught in Jazan with 1.6 kg of narcotics, including cannabis, methamphetamine, and prescription drugs regulated under medical laws. Additionally, two individuals were arrested in the Eastern Province for trafficking 1.7 kg of cannabis and prescription drugs.

In Jouf, another citizen was arrested for trafficking cannabis, methamphetamine, and prescription drugs, while patrols in Sharurah, Najran intercepted two Ethiopian nationals smuggling 8 kg of cannabis.

A group of 14 Ethiopian nationals attempting to smuggle 315 kg of qat were apprehended by patrols in Rabou’ah, Asir.

All individuals involved in these incidents have undergone preliminary legal procedures, and the seized narcotics have been handed over to the authorities.
