Saudi Engineer’s Revolutionary Method to Teach Arabic to European Children and Refugees

Saudi Engineer Launches Initiative to Connect Arab Children and Refugees with Arabic Language

In a bid to help Arab children and refugees in the West stay connected with their culture and roots, Saudi engineer Mohammed Al-Taweelie has taken it upon himself to provide Arabic language lessons through his initiative, Daad.

Having observed a lack of Arabic language content and fluency among the Arab community and refugee children in the West during his work experience in Germany, Al-Taweelie decided to launch Daad with personal funding. The initiative offers storytelling and learning activities for children through their online database, producing over 140 high-quality Arabic stories with audio and video available for free.

Creating a Cultural Bridge Through Arabic Stories

The Arabic stories cater to different age groups, targeting children aged 6-8 years and 9-12 years. Daad has been officially registered as a voluntary, nonprofit organization in Germany, with a mission to enhance Arabic electronic content in Europe and address deficiencies in various fields of knowledge.

Al-Taweelie emphasized the importance of enriching Arabic content and engaging students through programs and competitions. The initiative has seen over 50 million visits to scientific articles, showcasing the impact of their work in promoting Arabic language and culture.

Recognition and Honors for Al-Taweelie

Al-Taweelie’s dedication to promoting Arabic language and culture has not gone unnoticed. He has been honored by the Saudi Embassy in Berlin and received two distinction awards from the Saudi Cultural Mission in Germany for his contributions to the community.

Beyond his academic achievements, Al-Taweelie has been actively involved in student clubs and volunteer programs, supporting foreign and German students at the Technical University of Dortmund. His efforts have earned him the trust and respect of his peers, showcasing his commitment to serving others.

With a background in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in electrical and communications engineering, Al-Taweelie’s research focuses on artificial intelligence. His passion for bridging cultural barriers and promoting Arabic language and culture continues to inspire and empower Arab children and refugees in the West.
