Raid on Illegal Workers Unveils Product Expiry Date Scam

In a dramatic turn of events, illegal workers at a farm in Riyadh region’s Huraymila governorate were apprehended for tampering with product expiry dates, as reported by Saudi Press Agency on Thursday.

Crack of Dawn Raid

The crackdown unfolded at 3.00 a.m. in collaboration with Riyadh region police and Huraymila governorate police, following the discovery of expired products in the possession of expatriates. The trail led authorities straight to the farm.

Contraband Confiscated

A substantial amount of contraband was seized, including 248,000 chicken stock cubes weighing 8 grams, 4,600 potato chip products, 2,900 soy sauces, and 1,500 pasta sauces. All confiscated items were promptly destroyed. Additionally, a laser device used for altering production dates was confiscated.

Legal Action Imminent

The implicated workers have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for punitive action in line with the anti-commercial fraud law. According to the ministry, offenders of this law could face imprisonment for up to three years, fines of up to SR 1 million ($266,623), deportation, or a combination of these penalties.
