Medical Center in Makkah Treats Pilgrims for Heat Stress During Hajj

In a report by the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday, it was revealed that approximately 225 cases of pilgrims suffering from heat stress and fatigue were treated at a medical center in Makkah for heat exhaustion and sunstroke.

These cases were reported on the second day of Hajj, as pilgrims made their way up Mount Arafat to seek mercy, blessings, prosperity, and good health from God.

Mount Arafat, also known as the Hill of Mercy, is considered the pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage.

The medical center, which is affiliated with the Saudi Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, is well-equipped with 20 beds and the latest medical equipment to handle cases of heat stress and sunstroke.

Additionally, the center has an air and water spray system that uses sprinklers to cover all areas of the injured person’s body, along with separate clinics for men and women and a pharmacy.

Saudi authorities had previously advised pilgrims to use umbrellas, stay hydrated, and take breaks between rituals to prevent heat fatigue.

The National Center for Meteorology had forecasted temperatures in Makkah to reach between 45°C and 48°C, with minimal chances of rain.
