Shocking Revelation: Tourism Companies Promote Hajj Violations – Interior Ministry Official

Deceptive Tourism Companies Exploit Visit Visa Holders for Hajj

In a shocking revelation, the Ministry of Interior has exposed how some tourism companies in various countries have been deceiving visit visa holders by issuing visas not meant for Hajj. These companies have been encouraging visitors to violate regulations by staying in Makkah two months prior to the pilgrimage, putting their lives at risk.

Tragic Death Toll Rises During Hajj

Colonel Talal bin Abdul Mohsen bin Shalhoub, the security spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, revealed the devastating news that 1,301 people lost their lives during Hajj, with 1,079 of them being unauthorized pilgrims without Hajj permits. This shocking statistic accounts for 83% of the total deaths, highlighting the dangers of unauthorized pilgrimage.

Strict Penalties for Violators

In an interview with Al-Arabiya, Colonel Shalhoub emphasized the importance of Hajj permits as more than just a transit card. He stressed that permits are vital tools that enable authorities to provide necessary care and services to pilgrims promptly. Violators face strict penalties, with ongoing media and awareness campaigns warning against performing Hajj without permits.

Crackdown on Fake Hajj Campaigns

The General Directorate of Public Security has been actively issuing warnings through social media, cautioning against fake Hajj campaigns. Those involved in promoting such deceptive practices will face legal consequences, with arrests and referrals to the Public Prosecution being imminent. Several countries have also taken strict measures against deceptive companies, implementing corrective actions to prevent future violations.

Integrated Security Efforts Ensure Pilgrim Safety

Despite the challenges posed by deceptive tourism companies, Colonel Shalhoub confirmed the success of security plans for this year’s Hajj. The seamless coordination between security, military, and government agencies involved in Hajj has been instrumental in serving pilgrims and ensuring their safety throughout the pilgrimage.
