Saudi Authorities Foil Attempt to Smuggle 2.5 Million Amphetamine Pills Through Jeddah Islamic Port
In a dramatic turn of events, Saudi authorities have thwarted an audacious attempt to smuggle nearly 2.5 million amphetamine pills through Jeddah Islamic Port. The country’s General Directorate of Narcotics Control revealed this shocking revelation on Tuesday.
According to spokesperson Maj. Marwan Al-Hazmi, investigators uncovered a staggering 2,465,000 pills cleverly concealed within a shipment of agricultural fertilizer. The Saudi Press Agency reported this alarming discovery, shedding light on the elaborate smuggling operation.
The crackdown resulted in the arrest of several individuals across Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. These suspects, including a Syrian national, two other expatriates, and two Saudi citizens, have been handed over to the Public Prosecution for further investigation. The operation was executed in close collaboration with officials from the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority.
