Soudah Peaks Project: Top Priority is Heritage and Nature Preservation!

Soudah Development Company to Rehabilitate 200 Heritage Sites in Saudi Arabia

In a bid to preserve the authentic nature and natural splendor of the Soudah Peaks project area in Saudi Arabia, the Soudah Development company is set to rehabilitate approximately 200 heritage sites. Daniel McBrearty, the organization’s chief development officer, emphasized the importance of preserving these sites and the surrounding landscapes as the company embarks on its transformative tourism project.

Commitment to Sustainable Environmental Practices

Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency, McBrearty highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices. He stated, “The Soudah project’s master plan places sustainable environmental practices at the forefront, ensuring the protection of natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and the unique architectural style of the region.”

Transforming the Asir Region

The Soudah Peaks project aims to establish a luxurious mountain tourism destination at an altitude of 3,015 meters above sea level in the Asir region of southwestern Saudi Arabia. With only 1 percent of the 627-square-kilometer project area allocated for development, the project aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative.

Environmental Initiatives and Afforestation Projects

McBrearty emphasized the focus on safeguarding the environment and mitigating climate change impacts. The company has already planted 165,000 indigenous trees, including species such as juniper, wild acacia, Dodonaea, and katam, as part of an afforestation project. Additionally, efforts to reintroduce mountain ibexes and mountain gazelles aim to protect these species from extinction.

Future Plans and Economic Impact

Under the auspices of the Public Investment Fund, Soudah Development is leading the development of Soudah Peaks to enhance Saudi Arabia’s tourism offerings. The luxury mountain resort is projected to create thousands of job opportunities, contribute over SR29 billion ($7.7 billion) to the non-oil GDP, and attract 10 million visitors annually by 2030.

Attractions and Activities at Soudah Peaks

Developers promise a wide range of attractions and activities at Soudah Peaks, including mountain trails, paragliding, mountain biking, zipline adventures, and more. Visitors can also enjoy luxurious wellness experiences, an 18-hole golf course, and mild temperatures year-round for outdoor pursuits.
