US actress Avantika Vandanapu, popularly known as Avantika, made a grand entrance on the red carpet at Gold House’s 2024 Gold Gala in Los Angeles. She dazzled in a stunning gown by Lebanese designer Geyanna Youness.

The event was a celebration of leaders in the Asian-Pacific community and honored Hollywood star Lucy Liu with the Legend award.

Liu, known for her roles in “Ally McBeal,” “Elementary,” “Kill Bill Vol. 1,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and more, delivered a powerful speech about breaking barriers in casting decisions in the industry. She emphasized the importance of unity and representation for the community.

Avantika, who rose to fame in India’s Telugu film industry before making her mark in Hollywood, showcased her talent in various projects. From her lead role in the Disney Channel movie “Spin” to her appearance in Netflix’s “Senior Year,” she continues to shine in the industry. Avantika is also set to star in the upcoming “Mean Girls” reboot.

At the gala, Avantika flaunted a peach-and-blue gown by Geyanna Youness, featuring intricate detailing and a floral ruffle on one shoulder, highlighting the designer’s exquisite craftsmanship.

Geyanna Youness, a Beirut-born designer known for her bridal, couture, and accessories collections, crafted the elegant gown that perfectly complemented Avantika’s style.

Besides her acting career, Avantika is actively involved in promoting Indian cinema, with projects like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Tarot” in her portfolio. She is also working on bringing the Young Adult fantasy novel “A Crown of Wishes” to life on Disney+.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, Avantika shared her vision for showcasing Indian mythology in Western cinema. Inspired by the success of “Black Panther,” she aims to bring Indian mythology to a global audience on a grand scale.

Addressing the industry’s lack of diversity, Avantika opened up about the challenges faced by South Asian actresses. She highlighted the limited opportunities available for women of South Asian descent in Hollywood, stressing the importance of breaking stereotypes and creating more inclusive spaces.
