Paris Fashion Week Goes Olympic: Vogue World Takes Over Place Vendome

The iconic Place Vendome in Paris witnessed a spectacle like never before as US Dutch Palestinian supermodel Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Moroccan Egyptian Dutch star Imaan Hammam, French Algerian icon Farida Khelfa, and celebrities like Venus and Serena Williams and Katy Perry graced the cobbles.

A Fashion Extravaganza Celebrating the Olympics

On International Olympic Day, Vogue World transformed the last day of Paris Fashion Week’s menswear collections into a show themed around the Olympics, with Saudi influencer Nojoud Al-Rumaihi among the elite audience.

The event marked 100 years since the last Games in Paris in 1924 and paid homage to the founder of the modern Olympics, French nobleman Pierre de Coubertin, who launched the International Olympic Committee on June 23, 1894.

A Century of Fashion and Sports

The high-energy collection showcase paired different sports with different eras and styles, creating a Broadway musical-like atmosphere with stunning clothes against the backdrop of Paris’ Place Vendome at sunset.

The third Vogue World event celebrated French fashion and runway, tracing each decade with a designer and style era. From cycling in the ‘20s to martial arts in the ‘80s, the show highlighted iconic fashion moments in sports history.

Stars Shine on the Runway

The star-studded front row, including Pharrell Williams, witnessed a choreographed spectacle that left journalists mesmerized and forgetting to take notes. The Williams sisters stole the show during the “tennis” segment, showcasing bold and warrior-like looks.

The grand finale featured breakdancing, setting the stage for the upcoming Paris Games from July 26 to Aug. 11. Vogue World at Place Vendome was a fashion extravaganza that blended athleticism, French fashion, and pure razzmatazz in a way never seen before in the fashion capital of the world.
