Swedish Woman Discovers Saudi Kindness on Solo Motorcycle Adventure
RIYADH: Kristina Lindstrom, a Swedish woman, embarked on a solo motorcycle journey across Saudi Arabia and discovered the pure kindness of the Saudi people along the way. Lindstrom shared with Arab News her fascination with exploring different cultures, people, and landscapes, especially in a country like Saudi Arabia that has recently opened up to tourism.
Exploring the Kingdom on Two Wheels
During her adventure in Saudi Arabia, Lindstrom visited various cities including Buraidah, Hail, Wadi Al-Disah, Yanbu, Jeddah, Taif, Baha, and Abha. She plans to continue her journey to Riyadh and Al-Hofuf before heading to the UAE, followed by a boat trip to Iran, Pakistan, India, and Nepal.
A Passion for Riding
Lindstrom, who rides a 2005 Honda 650 Transalp, described the feeling of freedom and exhilaration she experiences while on her bike. She has been riding since she was young and finds that it allows her to clear her mind and fully engage her senses.
From Vietnam to Saudi Arabia
Her adventure began in Vietnam in 2016, where she decided to travel around Vietnam and Cambodia on a secondhand bike. Since then, Lindstrom has visited several countries in Europe and Asia before arriving in Saudi Arabia.
Discovering Saudi Landscapes and Hospitality
Lindstrom was drawn to Saudi Arabia for its diverse landscapes, winding roads, and natural beauty. She particularly enjoyed the mountains in Baha and Abha, as well as the campsites and landmarks like Wadi Al-Disah and AlUla.
Embracing Saudi Kindness
Throughout her journey, Lindstrom was touched by the kindness and hospitality of the Saudi people. From being helped by strangers in the desert to experiencing the generosity of locals, she felt welcomed and safe during her time in the Kingdom.
Safe and Welcoming
Despite being a solo female traveler, Lindstrom felt safe and respected in Saudi Arabia. She appreciated the sense of security she felt while camping alone and the genuine warmth she received from the locals.
Exploring the Red Sea
One of Lindstrom’s highlights in Saudi Arabia was diving in the Red Sea in Yanbu. She was amazed by the colorful corals and diverse marine life, which inspired her to continue exploring the underwater world.
