The Weeknd’s Generous $2 Million Donation for Gaza Aid – What You Need to Know!

The Weeknd Donates $2 Million to WFP to Help Feed Families in Gaza

In a powerful display of generosity, Canadian singer The Weeknd has once again stepped up to support those in need by pledging $2 million to help feed families in Gaza. The donation comes from his XO Humanitarian Fund, which is dedicated to combating global hunger.

The World Food Programme (WFP) expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the funds will provide over 1,500 metric tons of fortified wheat flour. This amount can produce more than 18 million loaves of bread, feeding over 157,000 Palestinians for one month.

This is not the first time The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, has contributed to WFP’s mission. In December, he donated $2.5 million from his fund, resulting in 4 million emergency meals and funding for 820 tons of food parcels. These donations were able to feed more than 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks.

As a Goodwill Ambassador appointed in October 2021, Tesfaye continues to actively support WFP’s efforts to alleviate global hunger. Together with his partners and fans, he has raised a total of $6.5 million for the XO fund.

In addition to his contributions in Gaza, Tesfaye has also directed $2 million to support WFP’s emergency food assistance for women and children in Ethiopia, bringing his total donations to $4.5 million for operations in Gaza alone. His ongoing commitment to humanitarian efforts is truly commendable.
