Top Saudi Official Reveals Game-Changing Energy Efficiency Plan

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Efficiency Sector Sees Remarkable Growth

In a significant development, Saudi Arabia’s energy efficiency sector has experienced remarkable growth, now boasting a total of 55 licensed service providers by the end of 2023, according to a top official.

With the Kingdom’s ambitious goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, led by CEO Nasser Al-Ghamdi, is playing a crucial role in supporting the nation’s efforts towards this target.

Speaking at the Saudi ESCO forum, Al-Ghamdi emphasized the center’s efforts in raising awareness about energy efficiency, noting that 26 universities across the country have integrated energy efficiency topics and courses into their curricula.

“We have launched various initiatives to reduce energy consumption since the center’s inception,” stated Al-Ghamdi, highlighting the successful implementation of over 200 training programs in the field of energy efficiency.

The CEO underlined the center’s commitment to building a robust ecosystem for energy efficiency service providers, ensuring quality and standards in this promising market through a licensing system based on meeting technical requirements.

Addressing the sector’s role in achieving net-zero objectives, Al-Ghamdi pointed out that companies and buildings are benefiting from energy efficiency solutions, including financing and project management, as well as consumption analysis to identify improvement opportunities.

Recognizing the significant energy consumption in the commercial sector, which accounts for 15.7% of total facility consumption in the Kingdom, the center initiated a pilot project to enhance efficiency in this area.

The project aims to raise awareness among business owners about energy efficiency opportunities and implement energy auditing projects to enhance overall efficiency in commercial establishments.
